El Capitan / Yosemite Collection

I’ve spent numerous family vacations camping and backpacking in Yosemite National Park. Over the years I’ve watched endless films about the climbing history in Yosemite. I was thrilled when the movie, Free Solo, won an Academy Award for documenting professional climber Alex Honnold’s quest to be the first to climb El Capitan without the use of ropes. When I came across the topo map artwork of Clay Wadman featuring climbing routes on El Capitan I knew there was great potential for a product collaboration that would resonate with the outdoor consumer. The end result was a capsule collection featuring Clay’s iconic topo map drawing of El Capitan used across a variety of HippyTree products.

My role for this project was Design Director and Project Manager. I carried out all communication with the artist, Clay Wadman, along with directing the apparel design, overseeing product development and marketing.
